Windsor and Back |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is an LCC and Lewisham Cyclists Event | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Meeting Points Meet: Forecourt of Forest Hill station 09:00. You’ll find it on cycle maps 10 and 11 which show pretty good cycle routes. It’s also on the brand spanking new recently arrived (eventually) East London Line, great for bikes off peak – lots of room. The Ride Lots of riverside views and a trip through the central part of Windsor Great Park which is closed to normal four-wheeled traffic. Probably a short stop at the Commonwealth Air Forces memorial - great views. Full trip might make a good preparation for the Dynamo. If you just want to do half of the route, you can train it back from Windsor - there appear to be no train works but do double-check. We'll take it fairly easy getting to Windsor but we do need to go fast enough for folk doing the full ride to complete it by a reasonable time. Pub lunch. The return trip is more direct and will also, in addition to the delights of Bushy Park, pass other railway stations. For a report and pics of a previous outing, check out the gallery, for June 2006. Suitable for any bike though full-on racers might find the riverside route there a bit wearing. Return all on road. Since this is a particularly long ride, please bring snacks. Distance: Estimate of 75 miles for the full return trip, maybe a tad less as the plan is to exit Richmond Park through the Kingston Gate rather than Richmond.
