The Great North Way |
This is an LCC and Southwark Cyclists Event |
08.30ish at Kings X, please confirm by text if you want to meet there, Some Southwark cyclists, and others too, set off up The Great North Way, although unlikely we will get far enough to notice any change in the weather or anything else come to that. Cycling up to Kings Cross we will take the train to Hadley Wood, which happens to coincide with the Hertfordshire border, where we will pick up the way, otherwise known as LCN 12. 32 miles of well constructed path and quiet road, masses of history, woodlands and things to see, even a cyclist access to a Motorway Services! We may well divert along the odd woodland track, or stop at a local heritage site, who knows what this exploration will bring. Full details here ; http://www.greatnorthway.org.uk/pdf/GNWmap%20v1.0c.pdf For those who would otherwise feel unchallenged, we may well round the ride off with a small challenge of an 18 miles spin through the Eastern Chilterns, through Quickswood, which was wiped out by the plague, Clothall where an otherwise unknown Ann Bramfield bore a higly respectful 16 children, and on to Weston where Busbies are made, and Jack O’Legs had his eyes pulled out. Passing through three other villages that should belong in Norfolk, Surrey and Oxfordshire, Luffenhall, Redhill and Wallington, home to one Eric Blair, from where the road to Wigan Pier leads through Animal Farm. The eventual destination is the Bedfordshire border near Letchworth, from where we will train it back to London. Perhaps home in time for Big Brother! Absolutely suitable for all, with plenty of opportunity to train home sooner. Bill – 07973 668642
