Lewisham Cyclists continues to develop its links with local community groups. On January 21 we participated in Lee Fair Share’s Doctor Bike event at the Lewisham Irish Community Centre in Catford. Lee Fair Share is a local time bank which allows local people to swap their skills.

Funded by a Cycle London Promotion Partnership* community grant, the event featured information stands from Lee Fair Share, Lewisham Cyclists, the Road Safety Department of Lewisham Council, and a free bike security marking service provided by Community Support Officers who arrived on their police bikes. Two members of the Metropolitan Police bike squad made a courtesy visit later in the day.

CTUK provided free bike checks and repairs for 11 people during the two-hour event which was rounded off with a raffle. Prizes of bike gear vouchers were provided by Lee Fair Share and The Bike Shop Lee and the London Cycling Campaign offered free membership.
