Something I should have said in Saturday’s report was that there seemed to be some work being done on the river wall in Greenwich on Saturday. That crane was definitely moving and in the short time I was there a couple of guys moved around the perimeter fence making sure that won’t fall down. The perimeter fence won’t hold back the river – we all know that.

Sunday  - 6 riders – Allison, Alan, Craig, John, Ian and Steve. Allison was in a festive mood, a cup of steaming mulled wine in hand and was encouraging the rest of us to take part.

I said it was a Lewisham end to end; Steve wanted a circumnavigation. I know other boroughs have travelled their boarders. It’s something we’ve yet to do in Lewisham – there’s a first one to do it out there for someone.

No takers at Ladywell Fields. It was a short ride and we were soon relaxing in the pleasant sun in Beckenham Place Park, watching some kids with great swings. After yesterdays slippery heavy going ride in Epping Forest I’d decided it wasn’t a good idea to ride the woodland paths and banks of the Ravensbourne so we idled away the time with coffee and beer musing over why there were so few golfers out on such a splendid day.

Back to Greenwich the same way -. Craig took us on a detour to The Point to take in the great view. Idea for a future ride ‘Great Views’ Then back to Greenwich through thee park and to the Greenwich Union for a pint with Alan and Craig.
