This should be a great autumnal country ride ....a circular ride taking in nice country, lovely villages, vineyards, stopping off at scenic or interesting points & with a lunch stop en route. ending at The Black Horse at Thurnham at around 15:30, where there's the option of drinks and good food, or catch the train immediately back to London Bridge or Bromley  from Bearsted [1.5 miles].

Note: for those wishing a somewhat shorter ride, we will pass several stations during the second half of the ride. Terrain: some hills, with flat sections - suitable for most experience levels

A limited number of hi res full colour overviews of the route ( 1 - 100000 scale ) will be issued free at the start of the ride

This ride is open to all .

NB - Bearsted Station has a car park .

Report

After London Bridge and Bromley rendezvous, 8 met up at Bearsted for the start of the Ride.

Andrew reverted to good old fashioned maps after the failiure of his GPS gizmo, and what followed was a a grand day out!! Lovely mellow Autumn weather, and a superb ride which took us through some stunning quiet landscapes and sleepy Villages, and up several very steep hills!! After finding our chosen lunch-stop had no food [!] we rode on further to 'the Bowl' near Charing , and just made it in for food before an entire shooting party arrived! The rest of the ride followed on, along part of the Pilgrims Way, ending at the Black Horse, Thurnham just before darkness - where the happy band dispersed, having agreed that the ride was so good it was worth doing again another time..including the hills!!
